Jason de Runa: Human-Computer Interaction Design

Shift Happens

Categories: learning

I found this eye-opening YouTube video that originally started out as a PowerPoint presentation for a High School faculty meeting in Centennial, Colorado, United States. It has been used as a starting point for many discussions on the subject of the incredible changes that are happening due to “flat world” factors and technological change over the past years.

Kevin Makice author of BlogSchmog and a PhD student in the School of Informatics brought up a great suggestion that relates to incoming graduate students, like myself.

Since the youth today are active creators of media content and hungry for interaction that books cannot provide, Kevin is thinking on the right track to engage students in academia. The message in this video will definitely resonate in students heads and get them and educational institutions to think about what is takes to become a successful global citizen in the 21st century.
